Brayton Laguna - Gingham Dog Shaker - ca: 1947
 
Durlin Brayton, an alumnus of Hollywood High School and Chicago
Art Institute, began his pottery in Laguna Beach, California
in 1927.  After the passing of Durlin Brayton, the pottery closed
in 1968.  The factory buildings now house the Laguna Art Center.

Lee and Michael McCarty operated in Sierra Madre, California
(near Pasadena) from 1941 to 1952 when cheap imports
from Japan forced them out of business

 Tour de Force - Willets American Belleek Vase - 12.5" circa 1906
  This vase also carries the "Stouffer Hand Painted" mark #4 dating from
1906-1914.  Jacob Stouffer went into business for himself in 1902 decorating blanks produced by
others. This vase was decorated and signed by K.Ryba....

The three Willets brothers, Joseph, Daniel, and Edmund, purchased the
Excelsior Pottery in Trenton, New Jersey in 1879 and changed the name to
Willits Manufacturing Company.
 
Walter Scott Lenox, formerly at Ott and Brewer, became head of decorating at Willets
in 1884.  When William Bromley Sr. came to Willits in 1887, he brought his formula
for Belleek porcelains.
In 1909 the company went into receivership and was reorganized as the New Jersey
Pottery Company.

This vase was made in the 1960s and measures nearly 11" tall
and is 31" in diameter.  It is signed Sascha B on the side and
has the Rooster mark and full signature stamp on the bottom...it
is also marked F46 (mold number) by hand
